Ait Bouguemez 3-Days tour
A valley lost in the heart of the Central High Atlas. This valley has drawn great wealth from a geological catastrophe.
A collapse downstream blocked the river's course. The alluvial deposits laid down over millennia filled the resulting lake. The small river now meanders and irrigates a vast plateau covered with all kinds of crops. The Berbers of the valley have built numerous earthen villages along the edge of this vast treasure. This is the "happy valley" sung by the troubadours of the High Atlas.

DAY BY DAY
Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Bouguemez – Agouti (1780 m)
Transfer to the Central Atlas Mountains. Drive to Azilal, then we delve into the beautiful Ait Abbas Valley to the charming village of Agouti, nestled in the heart of the valley; check-in at the guesthouse for two nights. Lunch at the guesthouse. Hike to the small peak of Sidi Chita, which offers a beautiful view of the valley. 2 hours of walking M = D = 150 m
Day 2: Exploring the Valley
Loop hike: ascend one side of the valley, descend the other.
We take the N'Aguerd Ouzou discovery trail: irrigated fields stretch along the banks of the Bouguemez River; the path zigzags between fields and walnut groves. We observe threshing floors, exceptional architecture (tighermt), dinosaur footprints... Exploration of the Sidi Moussa communal granary.Inside the granary are compartments where each family once stored its reserves, especially grain, ensuring survival in case of a poor harvest. Its strategic location also allowed for the protection of the village's resources in case of conflict. The granary is also a marabout (shrine) housing the tomb of Sidi Moussa. Some villagers still come to visit him hoping their wishes will be granted. Hike to the old village of Tabant, home to the mountain trades training center. The market, where transactions take place and decisions are made, is an extremely important meeting place for the villagers. Overnight stay at the guesthouse. 4 hours of walking, Elevation Gain/Loss: 280 m.
Day 3: Agouti – Marrakech
Return to Marrakech at a leisurely pace, passing by the Ouzoud Waterfalls; enjoy a Berber tagine at a small restaurant near the falls.
And why not take a dip in one of the pools at the foot of the falls? Arrival in the afternoon.1 to 2 hours of walking, Elevation Gain/Loss: 150 m
